Kelly Lee Roberts
has been teaching in the ballet department at PPAC since 2001. She was
trained under scholarship at the prestigious schools of Milwaukee
Ballet, Joffrey Ballet School, School of American Ballet as well as
American Ballet Theater School. Mrs. Roberts performed in Milwaukee
Ballet, toured extensively with American Festival Ballet, danced with
Arizona Dance Theater and a long stretch at Ballet Arizona from
1983-1993 under direction of Jean Paul Comelin. Her
professional dance credits include all of the classics such as Swan
Lake, Raymonda, Coppelia, Firebird, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty,
Napoli, Who Cares, Valse Fantasie, Carmina Burana, A Midsummer Nights
Dream, Tarentella, Don Quixote and over 450 performances of the
Nutcracker!
Mrs.
Roberts retired from the stage in 1993. She has taught at many of the
valley’s fine ballet institutes over the years including ASU Dance
Department and Ballet Arizona. Kelly Roberts enjoys teaching the
art of ballet to all of her students as well as choreographing at PPAC.
Mrs. Roberts’ and Mrs. Schwartz have collaborated on many of the ballet
classics. Past performances have been The Little Match Girl, Clara’s
Dream, Phantom of the Opera, Peter and the Wolf, Alice in Wonderland
and Clara’s Birthday Ballet to name a few.
Mrs. Roberts’ husband Ed and her two children Sabrina and Holly frequent the studio on a regular basis.
