KENDRA MITCHELL
received her training in Phoenix, and at the Central Pennsylvania Youth
Ballet and the Harid Conservatory. She began her career with Centro
Pro-Danza de Cuba under the direction of Laura Alonso, dancing lead
roles in Don Quixote, Romeo and Juliet, and The Nutcracker. Since
joining Ballet Arizona in 1996 Kendra has performed principal roles in
Balanchine’s Apollo and Divertimento No. 15, Swan Lake, Napoli,
Cinderella, La Sylphide, Paquita, and The Nutcracker. She has also
danced many featured roles in works that include Twyla Tharp’s The
Golden Section, and Ib Andersen’s Amoroso, Indigo Rhapsody, Mosaik, and
Coppélia. Kendra originated roles in Ib Andersen’s Elevations, Mosiak,
and Play. Kendra’s Balanchine repertoire includes The Four
Temperaments, Agon, Allegro Brillante, Concerto Barocco, “Rubies” from
Jewels, La Sonnambula, Serenade, Theme and Variations, Stravinsky
Violin Concerto, and La Valse. Her contemporary roles include works by
Dwight Rhoden, Moses Pendleton, Pilobolus, Kevin O’Day, Julia Adam, and
Paul Taylor In addition to her established career with Ballet Arizona
Kendra is also a soloist with The Suzanne Farrell Ballet
